Will my garage setup work with a jack-shaft opener?

Sorry for the noob question, but I was curious if my garage door tension shaft will work with a jack-shaft/wall mounted garage door opener (ie. Liftmaster 8500, etc.)?

1) Wasnt sure if this was a standard set up, or one of those wayne dalton torquemaster setups?
2) There isn't much extra length on either side of the shaft - does it seem long enough to mount the jack-shaft opener?

Thank you!

The liftmaster manual should indicate how much shaft is needed to connect the unit. That is not a wayne dalton torquemaster. That is a spring winding system meant for doors sold at retail to make it easier for a homeowner to install. One potential issue I see with this is the size of the drum. It is going to take more turns to make the door move the same distance, so even if the opener is compatible, it will be very slow to open/close. I THINK they list a min/max drum diameter in the specs, but it has been a while since I have read them.

I think you will need to replace or lengthen that existing shalf with a stub shaft inside. Now you got me thinking of getting our machinist to whip me up a shaft necked down to fit inside mine for when I go 8500. Getting a way newer and insulated big door so they may be needing to replace the shaft and springs anyways on My garage.

It's hard to tell from your photos but you may want to check the minimum distance needed between the drum and the wall.

I just installed three Genie 6070h, side mount openers. One to replace the old fashioned type opener, and two more on my new garage build that has a front and rear door.

From your pictures it looks like you have enough room. The right side looks better because more or the torque tube is sticking out.

Theres a ton of YouTube videos to help you. I spent hours watching all of them before I started installing mine.

Liftmaster manual indicates min distance of shaft required for the clamp. Also indicates min/max dims for literally everything else. Agree rh side looks long enough, but you may have to sister/add mounting plates for the opener itself. Just don't run screws through your siding. Lol.

There is only one lag bolt that mounts the opener to the inside of the garage. It and the bracket comes with the Genie unit.
