Have some screw drivers that have snapped off ends, and a small punch that got bent. I have no idea how this happened...:dunno:

Does anyone know if Sears will warranty these? I did not purchase the screw drivers, they were a gift. The punch I bought a while ago.

Last year they replaced a chisel that my boss chipped the corner on. I also have a couple punches I need to take in and get replaced.

if they wouldnt warranty them bent or broken, when would they??? isnt that what a warranty is for.

with sears, you can warranty for any reason you can dream up. it can be brand new, tell the associate "i dont like the way this wrench looked at me, i want a different one" and they have to give it to you.

satisfaction guarantee.

^^^^ This. One time when I was still working in salvage yards I found an extremely rusty & broken 3/4" drive ratchet down inside the quarter panel of a junk car. I took it back and they ordered me a new one and had it mailed to me since it wasn't something they normally stock in the store. I still remember my old high school auto shop teacher telling us you could stick a Craftsman wrench in a vise, hacksaw it in half, and they would replace it no questions asked. That was in 1972...

I found a Craftsman claw hammer that had one claw and no wood handle. Took it to Sears and the man said "pretty rough on your hammers" as he handed me a new top of the line one with a fiberglass handle. That is good service!

Just depends on the clerk you get, if he is young and inexperienced and trying to impress you with his intelligence then you might be in trouble. That is when you have him get you a new Tool Catalog, then show him the "Unconditional Guaranteed" statement in the book. Thank You and have a Nice Day Sir.

My Sears receipt of today sez: "There is a limited period of time to return or exchange items: 30, 60 or 90 days depending upon the item. ..." making further note of their "complete return and exchange policy". Is this 'return or exchange' different than warranty for damaged tools?

Money back or a different item, yes, is different than the same product being given to you when you bring it in.

Has to be a Craftsman product. Standard or cheap lines no. Better do it soon, last tools we took in most were discontinued and no longer available. Sears doesn't own Sears anymore, K-Mart does.

Also it has to be a hand tool, no torque wrenches ,vises, power tools. Its best to go when they are not busy, get the new items yourself, be friendly and polite. Some stores have a limit to the number of returns at one time.

I bought a large straight screwdriver that had a broken tip from the neighbor lady at a yard sale for a dollar. Took it to sears and exchanged it for a new one no questions asked. Now I check yard sales for Craftsman, Snap on, Mac and others with lifetime warranties and buy them even if they are broken. I also have my wife check yard sales she gets to without me for them too.

Over here....
I took an old Craftsman pocket tool (similar to a Leatherman) model 45201 with a broken knife blade. I have two, one to keep at the man cave desk, the other to carry with me.

They no longer sell them, discontinued. 'Sorry, no can replace it sir' from the pimply faced kid. I asked for the manager and he replaced it with a new Leatherman Fuse. The only thing it doesn't have is a file, but I can live with it.

Next up is all three Craftsman ratchets, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". All bad and not used in 15 years as I replaced them with SnapOn. I hope it goes well.

Any recommendations as to where to take them? Sears at the mall or better to go to a local store that sells them now?

The salesman should have ordered you a new screwdriver online if they didn't stock it. The new tips on the screwdrivers break so easily, I wonder whose idea it was to put the machine lines (score marks) across the tips. It has to be costing them money in screwdriver replacement and why I quit buying their screwdrivers.
