Will Sears Outlet locations negotiate?

There is a Sears Outlet center right by my new employer and I stop in sometimes during lunch. They have a couple top chests I might be interested in. They had 8 assorted units 2 months ago when I started. They have 7 now and have not added any new inventory. Prices are about 40% off retail, which is close to what Sears charges during a sale. Any chance asking a manager to make a deal with cash in hand will get a better price?

Around me they won't, but considering Sears is a large corporation and not some guy on craigslist, I would think you'd have more leverage opening a credit account. Cash doesn't make it any better for him since it's not his money and it will be reported on their numbers anyway. JMO.

Oh I was just using the "cash in hand" phrase pretty loosely. Method of payment I could care less about. Basically, make it known that you are looking to load something in your trunk before the end of lunch.

Buddy of mine routinely bargains with Home Depot and Lowes when he's looking to make a big purchase - appliances, a patio furniture set, I can't remember what else, and they usually have to go get the manager but he always manages to get them down. Especially on stuff that's being clearanced - I've seen him walk away paying half what they started out asking. So - it's not impossible. It never would have occurred to me to try it, but he's a real horse-trader type.

Yes, I've been able to wheel and deal at regular Sears stores too... Just pick things that are a problem to them (slow, overstocked, or shop worn display) and talk to the manager. Great way to get a tool box, riding tractor (mine, last year, at 1/2 price!) Outlets may be less likely to deal, since they see their stuff as a deal anyway...

I've been eyeballing some storage at my local Sears Outlet, and after a month and a half of the same price, and even relocation of the product within the store, they wouldn't negotiate.

Ask though, it's worth the shot.

I think you can bargain at almost any store. But that doesn't mean you can bargain on everything or with anyone in the store. If at first you don't succeed, ask for the manager. If that doesn't work you're probably SOL.
