Depends on your dealer, usually they are not very keen on warrantying rusted things. As for the Armstrong I would guess that they would if you sent it in (Danaher is pretty good about that) but with it being rusted who knows.

Being that the ball retainer fell out, they'll probably warranty it, but I'd venture to say the reason it fell out is because the extension was kept in a "less than ideal" environment.

Use Evaporust before you have them look at it and it should be good to go on both of them.

I would think the extension should be no problem. its not the rust thats the issue it the ball

the socket seems like its a material/craftsmanship issue

The socket looks useable, the extension is just beat to heck, I would say the extension lasted its lifetime, it is not the tool companies responsibility to give you "fresh" tools to replace roughly used and abused old tools. I would be embarassed to ask for a warranty for either of those tools IMO.

Same here. A new Snap On extension is only around $25 anyhow.

I tried to have some real old tools that were spent covered by manufacturer and found that the dealer made me feel almost like an *** for even trying to get them replaced. I bet if you really pressed the issue with snap on they would fix or probably just replace your extension, but you also have to consider that most likely you will have to pay to ship the old tool back and pay to get the replacement. I could see if the tool was in modest condition and not that old wanting it covered but due to the age and obvious long life theese tools have seen. I would say it's time to retire them(after all they look as if they could be 40 or more years old)I would say thats a pretty good run. If only more things in our disposable society could last that long....Anyhow good luck
