When I replaced all my Craftsman tools with Snap-on a few years back, I had a hard time getting used to the lack of a quick release feature. I know that there were previous versions with QR, but I never ended up getting one. Would I buy a Dual 80 with a QR?...Absolutely.

I will chime in here, I dont like QR ratchets. I have been a professional tech in the past and I am filling in for one at the moment (our town is short on techs) I have never had trouble with pulling a socket off any of my SO ratchets with my hands covered in grease, oil, penetrating spray, tire lube, or anything else I have been covered in. I started with all craftsman tools, and when I held my first snap on ratchet I fell in love and have never looked back. I have all gearwrench sockets now, and the sets all came with shiney new ratchets, they even felt nice, but I still gave them to my dad without even putting a socket on one.
Maybe the reason the pros dont need the QR ratchets is because we use our fingers all day and they are stronger than someone who doesnt wrench all day. So they dont have trouble getting the sockets off a ratchet. I know it took me a couple weeks for my fingers to get used to it after 10 years off from wrenching for a living.

A SO rep probably bought it to keep it out of the hands of a GJ'er who would in turn reveil its internals on this thread. Or not. If SO put a QRF80 out, I would definately buy it.

Snap On may very well of purchased it, not for the reasons you mentioned as the internals are nothing new .

They may want to track down who slipped this one out of the factory as they are not released yet or for sale .

Once the existing stock of the FR936 is depleted you will see these for sale.

i know it is hard to pull off a 10mm shallow off the f80 if your hands/tools are greasy.

A lot of the older mechanics I know carry a small screwdriver or a mini bar in their pockets to help get the sockets off.

I have a Mac plastic tool cart. If a socket hangs up and won't come off, or is too greasy to grab, I just smack the ratchet, socket down and in the tray, over the side of the cart. The socket pops off and I get the satisfaction of whacking something after fighting to remove a socket that should pop right off.

If they made these would you guys buy them? this one looks like a prototype maybe.

I would probably buy one in each drive size. I would not buy flex head versions, just the regular ones. I can see a value in having regular and quick release ratchets in each drive size for different purposes. I think they are most valuable for use in the smaller shallow sockets in each drive size. Even as a non professional user who just appreciates quality tools, I could justify the purchase of 3 quick release dual 80's to augment each of my non flex, non quick release dual 80's.

Would that be a rare ratchet if the one sold on Ebay never goes to production? I have not seen a FR80 ever!!
