I wouldn't hold your breath on it!

To be honest, I'll be very surprised to see them bring out new "Professsional" ones. They're slowly killing off that branding.

Probably going to be rebadged Gearwrench screwdrivers. They didnt even stay with a little company like Wilde for their pry bars, i see no reason for them to continue to use Western Forge for screwdrivers.

Their shelves are empty of that professional series. I picked up the long and short sets about 2 weeks ago.

I'd be shocked if they actually kept the Pro line at all, they've been getting rid of it as fast as possible.

Realize Sears store employees aren't told **** about what is going on with the company. I worked freight at one for a bit a couple years ago, and none of the employees knew how badly the company was doing.

Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh...I doubt the Pro drivers are coming back at all. They got rid of pretty close to everything else from the Pro line.

Professional line is a memory. I have a feeling that with the latest performance of Sears/Kmart you are going to see the Craftsman line condensed and bundled into the the most compact and efficient money maker it can be just to sell the name in the corporate liquidation. Hopefully it will end up like SK, but highly doubtful.

Chances of them still being made in the USA are slim to none. Craftsman is going all import.

I've been predicting the offing of the Craftsman Professional line of screwdrivers for the past year or so. They've been killing it off slowly, dropping the stubby screwdrivers, then some slower selling sizes. Most of my local stores usually haven't been restocked or only get one or two back in stock when they sell out of a size.

I guess I'll breeze by my local Sears on the way into work this afternoon and see if they're clearing out theirs.

As long as WF is making the identical drivers for S-K in the same factory, my guess is they will stick around for at least a while.

Probably in set form with a few open stock options.

But based upon todays article on Sears, it's a doom and gloom kinda quater for Sears sadly. so all bets are off.

It really is sad. I absolutely love my cman pro wrenches and have been hoarding everything i can find. As stupid as it sounds I even have the 1.5" pro combo as a decoration. I will never have a legitimate use, but the clearance price on it was right. Scored these the other day just because i know the warranty is close to useless. They are going to sit oiled and packaged up just in case.

I picked up a couple of the most popular most used sizes as back UPS. Just another Craftsman tool.i own with a completley useless warranty. If i break one I can't warranty it. Hell I can't even buy a replacement if I loose one. It *****. These were really nice tools for a good price. These along with all my sockets and wrenches and.my USA made ratchets( standard and 60t low profiles) have a worthless to me warranty. Hopefully rebuild kits will be available. It's a good thing I don't break tools that often. I can hand them down to my kids and tell them how good craftsman once was.

Pro line was discontinued some years ago. Only reason the pry bars, screwdrivers and picks have held onto the branding was due to them not bothering to change the handles.

Last year I considered buying this set...

By the time I ordered it, "That set's not available, and we don't know if it will ever come back---"...

Just thought I'd post a photo, so folks could see what a "Complete Set of Craftsman Professional Screwdrivers, Adjustable Wrenches and Pliers" looked like...

The "On Sale" price was over $ 340.00, if my old brain still functions...

At a casual glance, I think I have most of the screwdrivers. Only ones I don't have are the 16 and 20 inch slotted drivers and the cabinet tips. I guess if they get cheap enough on clearance I may pick them up just cause.

Why obsess over a warranty on a cheap tool? Its the absolute most profitable part of their business/marketing. People are willing to pay 3x for a rebadged pos just in case out of an absolute almost paranoid fear of loss.

We had a guy here ask about a pair of Channelocks, they were the real deal at 20$ a piece but he buy the pos of Sears for 40 just in case he has to warranty it decades in the future. Seems to me the real blue handle at 1/2 the cost would have been a no brainer,,, the guy is smart enough to log on and use a computer but cant do basic math or maybe an engineer for all I know but the fear proves out all my babble about risk/reward and real numbers.

In the real world the Sears is still a good screwdriver for the paltry price you paid, you could find something the same slightly cheaper but they aint holding a gun to your head, its reasonable and it works well. I just turn a couple in, 40 yrs old and the new work great, for now nice and sharp and the new handle sticks out. The broad,, whoops woman at the store was super helpful and actually knew a fair amount about tools and was interested. I had 2 drivers the same, she said,,, why have 2, pick a different model and although the stock was pathetic I managed to do some trading and got more popular items and she didn't have to fill out a tedious order.
I still think the Sears ratchet is **** but in general their tools, made here or there especially when on sale in sets are a bargain and work well. The screwdriver was about 4$ list price, its back to work daily,,, how much more can you get?

Some of those sets are so cheap could buy it in the morning and do enough work to pay for it by the end of the day. The 309 at 200 or so a guy change a starter, a water pump and a set of plugs and its yours.
Yes there might be better tools but that work would have covered the first of 24 payments at top of the line.

Yep. And, when the tip breaks there's not going to be anything to get in return for warranty.

But if Sears is still around, you can get a gift card for probably more than you paid in the first place. You get a free tool for years, but people will still find a way to ***** and moan.

Although people like to believe different due to perception the above statement is close enough to the truth,,, if they priced it much lower you would be paid to carry it to the parking lot.

Pay almost nothing for something, beat the **** out of it with a hammer and Channelocks for 10 yrs and get a free replacement, still complain,, ha

I think it's just old stock, or contractual obligation with WF & Mayhew. They don't just have 'different handles' on them, they are completely different drivers/picks/pry bars than the standard CM line.

I am hoping to find a P2 x 6 along the way in my travels.
I've searched and searched, and for some reason WF never put out a P2x6" in CM Pro, SK or Armstrong (only the 4" & 8"). It ***** because that would be my go to phillips head if I had one.
