So i got my new 30x40 pole barn up and im planning the insulation, i have 80 sheets of this stuff pictured 1.5” thick ( i have no idea what it is) was debating using it on the walls double layered. What ya think? I only want to do it once, think this stuff would be good ? And if so should i cut to fit between the wall girts and behind posts or just right on the girts

That's reclaimed roofing polyiso. Polyiso does loose some R value in cold weather but it's still good insulation. I'd put it between the girts and behind the posts. If you have any left, put that over the girts.

Decent stuff. Use it.

Maybe others will chime in...but if you are in a extreme climate, maybe put bat insulation behind it....then that stuff in the event you don't plan to put any drywall or other covering up.

I did that exact method with my 30x40 pole barn. I used the pink 1-1/2 inch XPS foam sheets. One layer between the girts and behind the posts, then another layer over the top. I used 5/8 inch bcx plywood for the inside wall finish. This gave me r15 for the walls. I used the polyiso sheets screwed to the bottom of the roof purlins to insulate the roof. I can now heat my shop easily. BTW I also insulated my 12x12 overhead doors.
