With posts moving so fast these days I don't post very much, but I thought you might enjoy this post. Mind you so much has been written about the Peterson Vise Grip on the GJ that I thought if anyone in the future would want some kind of time line this post might help some.
The Pat. was applied for on Aug. 17th, 1940 and Granted on April the 14th, 1942.

From what I gather very early examples exist but my research for this example has me going in two directions. One train of thought (from my reading) has a starting date of 1946; but the other findings show a starting date of the non two part lever between 1947 and up to 1957. After that the release lever came in two parts.
Interesting to note my vise Grip has no chrome plating, but the pictures don't show that very well.
So the best guess for this early model would be made between 1947 and up to 1957. Hope this helps you out some for guessing as to an age for this model of vise Grips.
