Williams Nut Drivers

I am finding conflicting info on the type of shaft on Williams Nut Drivers. The current versions.

Catalog shows a 7" model that says "Hollow shaft accommodates long bolts or studs"

Catalog also show 9", Long Shaft and says "Solid shaft accommodates long bolts or studs".

Internet sites list the Long Shaft version as having a hollow shaft.

Does anyone have the long ones? Are they hollow? Just deep? solid shaft?

Might be a typo. It should be hollow too. I don't see how a solid shaft would accommodate a long stud. To be certain you could try contacting Williams and ask them about it. I don't know how responsive they would be but it couldn't hurt to try.

Yeah , I'm pretty sure it's a typo. The question is which way around? I think I will give Williams a try.

OK, after I called Williams (very good on the phone BTW) and it was confirmed to be hollow shaft I also received a reply to an email saying they were solid shaft.

Sooo, I ordered a single to find out for myself.

They are solid shaft with a deep recess. The recess depth is 1 1/16" which is about the same as the Craftsman hollow shaft that I have. I don't know how deep any other hollow shaft are for comparison.

Quite nicely made driver. Seems robust. A very easy to read size marking on the end cap.

For comparison the Xcelite nut drivers I have the entire shaft is hollow and the handle is also about 3/4 hollow.
