I had a similar issue with a ratchet, I forget the brand unfortunately. Here's what worked. I took an old female air coupler apart,

I used a "ball" from that and it worked perfectly. Comparing it to other ratchets using a similar "ball" they were the same size. HTH

that is an excellent suggestion

Thanks. I went nuts trying to find the ball in my ratchet and remembered taking one of those air couplers apart that was leaking air. As it turns out the balls were exactly the same size. I hope the OP has the same luck, I'm thinking he will.

I don't know the size for the Williams. I replaced one on a 2nd hand ratchet from another brand and it was 5/16" on the 3/8" drive. It may vary with ratchet size so you might mention the drive size. You might measure the spring with a caliper to find a suitable replacement. If you aren't able to scavenge a replacement, Menards has 2 packs for 50 cents. They'll likely be available at similar stores as well.
