Just wondering what you guys think of the williams ratchets? How do you rate them? I am looking at the round head fine tooth and the sealed 36 tooth ratchets.
Wait...Snap On pear heads and williams pear heads are THE SAME?
These ratchets just don't break. When you get into Williams, you're getting into some serious tools.
The COO is listed right on the catalog page with the tools. The imported Williams look just like Blue-Point ratchets.
Wait...Snap On pear heads and williams pear heads are THE SAME?
So this Williams 1/4 ratchet, for $18.86
http://www.industrialsupplydenver.com/wi1enhechfir2.html
Is the same as this SO ratchet, which costs $65.65
So either:
A. There IS a difference in the metal. Maybe looks the same on the outside, but better metal alloy.
B. Your just paying a bunch more for the name.
A set from Williams for the pear heads (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) is around $80 with no shipping. Compare that to the SO set at over $280.
Also, where are they warrantied? Does snap on actually make them? Are they made in USA?
EDIT...and while we are at it, are williams and SO sockets the same?
Ya but is there anywhere I can take it to, or do they get sent in?
I've read that some williams is overseas, and some is usa. How can one tell if the COO isn't listed?
Something still isn't right. Either this proves SO is overpriced, or the metal content is different. That's a $200 difference in price.
TimDaToolMan . . . aren't you same guy asking about buying tools for the very first time?? . . . . ie was big Craftsman fan, but fell out with COO issues? (ie HAD to have all one brand, and HAD to be Made in USA). A bit ironic now you have Armstrong avatar??

Others have covered it pretty well so far but I'll just reinforce it. The current line of ratchets on the Snap-On site are not comparable to the current line of Williams. Rather the Williams are essentially the last generation of Snap On ratchets while the ones listed on the SO site are the new Dual 80's. You're paying more for the newer ratchets with higher tooth count, easier warranty, local truck service, and of course, the name.Something still isn't right. Either this proves SO is overpriced, or the metal content is different. That's a $200 difference in price.
He's new, give him a chance to learn.
