I love my Williams drivers and will continue to not care if they're indexed. How often are you really reaching for a slotted driver nowadays anyway? If 90* is too much to get a phillips to align with the screw well you're much more [something] than me. I'll let you decide if the [something] is good or bad.

I never noticed either if they were or not. I just used them. The last time I used a slotted driver in an actual slotted screw was in my house on outlets. Any other time its being used as a punch pry bar or chisel and without safety glasses

And this one was OK yesterday, and now it is mis-indexed! What the hell is happening?

Huh. I have that same screwdriver but the handle is black. Mine makes a funny clicking noise when you try to loosen screws and doesn't even seem to budge the screw. It tightens them just fine though.

I'm gonna squirt some epoxy up into the handle to fix it.

Don't forget to index it first!

Bought a few sets of Wiliams based on how much I loved the 2 flat older snap on hard handles that I owned. I was COMPLETELY dissatisfied when I found this indexing problem. YES, it is a problem! It is an instinct problem, a muscle memory problem. I'll guess that you who say otherwise are not good combat pistol shooters. Yes, yes it matters. If you don't get it, then, you won't get it.

I contacted the company, they were awesome, and like, wow, we will inspect the next batch personally. Well, the next batch were worse. LOL. I indexed the new batch myself. Yes it matters. BUt, kudos to them, I didn't have to send the fort batch back. I'll just fix them also because, yes, that needs fixed.

I've shot against Kelly Neal, Rob Leatham, and Nils Jonasson in competition..........and I still couldn't tell you if the screwdriver I used today had an indexed blade? I can field strip a Glock behind my back though.......:headscrat

I checked my Snap on and Williams drivers today. The Williams were all "indexed" and all but one Snap on was . I would have never noticed either way.

I checked a co-workers snap on hard handle flat heads, not indexed. My SK flat heads, they were, as were my HF. My proto (only one ancient one) is not.

Nobody cares.

Unless the screw head is always in the same position when tightened, you always attack it from the same angle, and you cannot visually see the screw (thus align it), and you are wearing gloves so thick you can't feel the head engage..... why would it ever matter?

Re: Williams Screwdrivers - Question Regarding the Blades

Like I said, if you don't get it, then you won't get it. That's the beauty of the tool world, you choose what you want, I'll choose what I want. Enjoy

My screwdrivers can be indexed in six positions and are adjustable in length and type of tip.

Plus the bonus of having round handles. I only need one to work.
This level of OCD for artisan level tools from mass produced lines is unrealistic.
