I'm looking to buy a 3/8 drive socket set. I've come across Williams and they say there snap on brand. Does this mean there good or just snap ons left overs. Has any one had experience with them.

There are two versions of Williams branded sockets, those that are US made and those that are made in Taiwan. Both will serve you well in a 3/8 drive set.

Shop around though. try www.toolsdelivered.com to browse and compare pricing.

Far too many people equate Williams with being a snap on industrial brand and try to charge for it as if it was snap on, it's not. :wtf:

Some of the Williams ratchets are based off the discontinued Snap-on 936 series. Same exact ratchet, slightly different shaped body. Parts are interchangeable.

So aren't Williams ratchets any good

I just started buying Williams sealed head ratchets. They are low tooth count but that's fine for me. They have higher tooth count round heads as well. At least from the sealed heads I've bought, they are solid USA tools that come out of the package polished and shiny......but they don't stay that way for long in my hands.....I work around some pretty nasty stuff at times.

Recently bought the M-52EHFA 1/4" long flex head and the B-52EHLA 3/8" long handle and got pretty sweet deals on www.toolsdelivered.com

S-K, Wright and JH Williams are all excellent ratchets! I have many of all three. The older Williams B-52 and S-52 are superb. They are fine-tooth ratchets built to last.

Thanks bob for that handy hint
What's every one opinion value for money sk, wright or Williams

USA Williams are the same sockets Snap-On sells, Taiwan Williams are the same sockets that are sold under the Blue-Point brand. As Bob put it, all numbers=Taiwan, letters and numbers=USA.

All my SK & Wright are old stuff, so can't give an opinion on the current lineup.
Love my new Williams stuff. 90% USA, but had to go Taiwan for deep 3/8 drive 12pt Metric. Almost as nice as the USA stuff. You can't go wrong with Williams sockets (or wrenches).
USA standard length, Taiwan Deep

I filled in the missing 20mm Deep with a Blue Point. Exact same socket just a different stamp.
