Hey everyone, I am looking to get complete socket sets soon and I love buying snap on and do every week when the truck comes around but the sockets are very expensive! and I do like that they are thin wall and us made, anyways I am looking at the williams line and im wondering if they come out of the same plan as the SO sockets?

they are both us made, the 1/4" drive sae shallow kit from snap on is $155 for 13pc and the williams is $36 for the same sizes and pieces. just wondering if it's more than just the name on the outside?

You sure that the Williams set is US made? $36 for a 13 pc set looks like Williams Taiwan-made pricing.

I ordered a set of the Williams 3/8" drive SAE deep well 6pt sockets a couple months ago, and I can't tell any difference between them and my Snap On metric deep sockets.

How is warranty handled? Can you contact a snap on dealer or is it a williams only? I think that if I was to pay for snap on, it would be for the ease of warranty, but the price of williams is pretty damn good.

Um I believe you have to warranty them threw a snap on industrial dealer but will have to find out. I know what your saying about warranty and thats fine payin a bit more for one thing but buying 1/4 , 3/8 and 1/2 complete sets that adds up real quick!!!

well that sounds good to me. How about the wall thickness? because I don't want thick wall causes to many problems in tight areas

I don't have them to measure, but the wall thickness should be the same as a Snap On socket.

Oh, mine are USA made.

I have Snap On's as a 1st set and then 2nd & 3rd tools sets are all made up of the USA Williams stuff.

With out over analyzing them Either the plating is different or the final polishing stage is different between the 2.
The Snap On's have a higher polish finish IMO
I could almost swear when it comes to larger sockets sizes some of the Williams are heavier than the Snap On's but I am not going to sit around with a postal scale to find out.

Ztsupply on ebay has some good deals on the USA Williams sockets sets ranging from $28 and up a set..

For most tools, Williams offers a USA made version and an imported version.

In the future, check the catalog first, as it clearly shows which part numbers are USA made.

They do have USA made 3/4" drive sockets.

Their catalog tells you which tools are USA made. And they always have the Taiwan made tools on a separate page; never on the same page with the USA tools.
