Last weekend I found a Williams Standard 1/2 inch drive set. There are several interesting details. The shallow 12 point sockets run from 7/16 to 1 inch with 19 and 25/32's.
The plug is captive, addressing the issue of where are all the plugs for the female ratchets.
Additionally, the breaker bar has a female connection at the base of the handle so it can be used as an extension.
The box is beyond repair, but, I believe original to the set. Some previous owner used maroon paint to help keep the set together.
It will be up for adoption.
Regards,

Sounds interesting. I would love to see pictures.

The polite version of this...

On the other hand, everyone likes a good quiz!

with 19 and 25/32's.
Williams broke into socket wrenches late, via their association with Husky (pre-New Britain). Their 1/2-inch square drive sets included those opening sizes as well as 21/ and 31/ from 1930 through the early 50's, so that's not much help identifying your set. Are they tapered or straight wall? If tapered, early 30's. If straight, mid 30's.
The plug is captive, addressing the issue of where are all the plugs for the female ratchets.
The S-150 drive plug was push-pull "captive" in their earliest 1/2-inch drive ratchet, the female non-reversible S-50.
the breaker bar has a female connection at the base of the handle so it can be used as an extension.
Model No. S-40 Flex Handle (OAL 12"). Sometime between 1932 and 1937 they introduced the S-41 (OAL 17", with a tommy bar hole cross-drilled near the end). Is there a noticeable and odd separation between the back of the drive stud and the hinge? If so, it's early.

We have a Williams thread if you want to research it and post it there. See Index in the Sticky.

I have been collecting vintage Williams superrench and super ratchet sockets and finally completed my set but was wondering if they made any metric sets as I have never come across any in my scrounging
