Looking long and hard at these wrenches and comparing prices, I've decided these are the best deal out there for my dollar. My question is are the Taiwan made satin finished wrenches as well made as the USA made suoercombos? Yes, I'm a cheap *** but I can be happy with satin vs chrome. Also, I have read that the super combos can chew fasteners. I don't need any help with that as I am fully capable if rounding fasteners on my own! What is the disadvantage of the satins over the supercombos besides the coo?

I just wanted to mention "chewing" is not the same as "rounding". The chewing mars the faces of the fastener sides - not the corners.

There is a Wright / Williams comparo thread here somewhere that demonstrates it.

ETA: My mistake - it was a Snap-On vs Wright comparison. Scroll down until you see the nuts with red marker on them: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40058

The term chewing with these refers to the fact that they can dig into the fastener to remove it. Great wrenches, IMO.

I have the Metric and Standard Satin chrome Taiwanese sets. They are pretty good, A little longer than the snap on combo I compared it too, they seem to fit the fastener great and I really like them.

Just ask yourself if the price difference between the satin Taiwan and polish US made wrenches is enough for you to live with just in case you don't care for the Taiwan version.

For me, my threshold of something bugging me forever and being something I can live with is about $40

Looked at the standard satin wrenches today at an industrial store. Man, they do look like no frills! The only thing I didn't like was coo(Taiwan) stamped on the side and the box end edge was sharp where the 12 point hole was cut. Definately going with the super combos!
