Williams Super Combos

Need some new wrenches for work.

Can't afford Snappy or Cornwell and don't like the way MAC feels in my hand.

Not too impressed with what Husky and Craftsman seem to have become.

Which leads me to Williams.......I have a couple sets of sockets and a ratchet that seem to be holding up well. Wondering if the Super Combos are worth it, or just spend the extra coin for Proto and be done with it.

Don't really care about COO, as long as the quality is good.

Those are quality wrenches and can be had for a reasonable price.

I have a set of Proto full polish that I keep at home, very nice wrenches.

Would buy another set no question, but I've heard mention of the super combos, and they are about 35% cheaper, so I'm wondering if they're a deal.....or is it a "get what you pay for" kind of thing?

The Supercombo's get excellent feedback here.

You should also checkout Wright, SK, and Proto. (Watch the video someone posted on Wright Grip's open end grip.)

A lot of it boil's down to personal preference. Williams are a long stout wrench. SK's run short unless you get the long pattern. Wright is somewhere in between.

I sold my Snap On SAE combos to replace them with Super Combos after I loved using my metric set so much. The beams are comfortable, they're as long as Snap-On, and the open ends grip like Snappy Flank Drive Plus wrenches.

Only go with actual Super Combos though. I had a seller on Amazon send me a set of old stock Williams USA satin finish wrenches that were about on par with Craftsman, listed as SC. Sent them back and got it all resolved, but just be aware of who you buy from, and what you're getting.

Don't overlook the Wright brand WrightGrip! Excellent wrenches at a reasonable price. Checkout this article and the video clip that's embedded in the article. WrightGrip wrenches shear the bolt before they slip or round off the bolt head! Pretty impressive!!

i like supercombos just fine; most of my SAE set is supercombos that i got on clearance at epstein's, with wright grips filling in the gaps.

Williams wrenches are good tools. You should be pleased with them. What set did you order and where did you order them from?

I also have snappys fd+ and the supercombos have the exact same open end minus the plier like teeth,you will love them.but overall the wrights are my first choice.theres a how its made about wrenches that show the williams being made by Snapon.

Just curious why you'd choose Wright over the Williams? What makes you grab the Wrights first when given a choice?

The fit and feel.I have protos,snappys,wrights,1947 bluepoints,mac440s,armstrongs,matcos ,usag,and a ton of gearwrenches,craftsman indexing(junk fell apart first use),and singles galore,so I have experience with those brands and the wrights,for me ,are my favorite so far.I have an addiction I guess.could be worse.I build oilfield equipment so I use them daily.its just a preference thats hard to explain,like blond vs brunette.I guess its the satin and chrome and the offset.also less can out for me.I have very little financial obligation so I treat myself to nice tools alot,maybe too much.I get on kicks and buy all I can.I mean way overboard.in my adjustable wrench phase I bought every size from a 2" to a 30".who needs 6 6" adjustables?me.crowsfeet to 2 7/8,wrenches from 1/8 to 2 15/16,sockets too

I have a bunch of brands. My fave is Hazet, but wright grips are badass. The only Williams I have are a set of stubbys. They seem good. I have a 13mm snap on and I don't like the beam shape or full polish. I do like the square shape of Mac though.
