I came across a few 1/2" drive Williams (SAE) wide (single) groove sockets and I like how they look and have given some thought to completing the set. I took a look for them on a popular auction site and don't see very many. Are these very scarce and it's a bad idea or very tough to complete a set like this, just you thoughts please

Burns,

Williams makes great sockets, and they're worth collecting.

I'm kind of fond of the Williams wide groove and double groove sockets myself. I have been slowly assembling both sets. I've been finding mine at pawn shops. They are not plentiful, but they are also not rare either. And, the Williams socket are easy to spot. I generally pay anywhere between $0.25 and $1.50 per 1/2" drive socket, depending on size and quality.

You might want to explore the world of pawn. Every pawn shop is different, and some don't deal in hand tools. Narrow your search to those pawn shops that have bins of sockets and start sorting.

Happy hunting!
