I have a 1750 dated 1991. It has the 1750 cast on the left side as you are facing the vise. It
Has no flat smooth location on either side where a badge may have been. The word Wilton is not actually on it. The pipe jaws are missing but it is obvious that there are held in by a screw in the middle. Jaws are 5”

Any idea of who Wilton may have made it for

Any idea where it was made?

Thanks

Pretty sure those were made in the USA despite not being marked. Sticker probably fell off a while ago.

“Definitely a Wilton 1750. I don't think the 1750's were being made offshore in 1991.
They are good vises, and will go the distance, if not abused.”

Since it is not marked as a Wilton, do you think they made it for another company? If so where would the badge have gone? There is no smooth or flat location.

Thanks a lot

The badge was just a flat metal sticker they put on the side. This is a 1740 but I think it shows the point.

Mine doesn't say "Wilton" on it either, just "5 1/2" Jaw Made in USA". No sticker on mine, but it seems to work OK despite the lack thereof.

Yep
I am looking at flipping it though and want to ensure I represent it correctly

Thanks

With no paint left, hard to say. They made them for John Deere, and a couple colors for Snap-on, at least.

Someone on here apparently started the rumor that for a time some of the older ones were not USA if they didn't say it. Then another guy contacted Wilton, who said not true, and then the second member called the first guy on his bs and I don't think he ever posted that line again.

Member 1 was apparently a Wilton hater and just wanted to bash them.

Here is a Wilton 1740 I restored. It had red paint when I found it, so I thought it was an S.O. Wilton. Snap On apparently also had them made in lime green.
