Hi guys, I joined this forum to get more information about tools.
Low and behold I got addicted to this site and now Wilton vises.
:lol_hitti
I just wanted to get a feel for what people feel is a fair price for a wilton 2.5 vise.
I am currently on the market hunting for one.

If you're looking for a 2-1/2" Bullet style, prices vary wildly but they tend to be (in my opinion) not a great deal. I've seen them sell for anywhere from $100-$200. For about the same money, you can get a 4" Wilton that will be a lot more useful. (Unless you only work on small stuff).

On the other hand, the 2-1/2" ones are a bargain compared to their 2" little brothers which always seem to bring top dollar. I've had several of them and all sold on eBay for $225-$250.

If you can find a 2-1/2" in decent shape for $100-$125 you did OK.

I plan on using the larger bullets ones but star and admire the smaller ones.

I paid $20.00 for my 2 1/2 inch Wilton machinist..and a buddy just picked one up that I restored for him, for the amazing price of $2.00 at a flea market..

So take your time and keep looking. The uninformed, due to their inherent small size, tend to greatly undervalue them at times.

Happy hunting!

I know the feeling.. I have a couple of tiny vises, a tiny model floor jack and some other miniatures up on a shelf in my barn. I have a hard time passing up tiny tools.

I've had 4 or 5 2" Wiltons... I have a hard time hanging onto them because they always seem to be bringing crazy money on eBay and every time I look at them I can't justify keeping a $250 toy on the shelf (even though I paid $20 or so for most of them) What I usually end up doing is telling myself that I'm going to put it on eBay for a ridiculously high price.. then if nobody buys it, I can keep it guilt free. So far, none of the baby Wiltons have lasted more than a month.

As a matter of fact, I found a rather unique one just this weekend with brass swivel locks. I'll probably start it on eBay at $250 and I won't be surprised if it sells for $275 or more.

Wife thinks I am crazy.

When I bought the first one I'd found, my wife asked "You paid money for that? Don't you already have like 5 vises???"

Naturally, I lied and said "Yes" (Actually, I had more like 10 or 12 vises at the time).

When I told her that I was going to put it on eBay and make a $200 profit, then she REALLY thought I'd lost my mind.. "Nobody is going to pay $250 for a Munchkin's vise"

Now she just smiles when she sees me bring one home...
