I have had this vice for years and now thinking of selling it. It’s never been used.
What would be the price range for this vice?
Thanks

I don’t really know but if I were you, I’d figure out what an appropriate shipping cost would be and list it on eBay. Lots of visibility and you can always put a reserve on it. I’m positive there are collectors who would want that piece, considering you have the original box too.

My sentiments exactly.

I am an owner of a manufacturing company and we have several Wilton vices like this one and larger bought years ago. I would not replace them today with new Wiltons, primarily because of cost. I will say they are one of the best vises I have used but they are still just a lump of iron.

I have had this one a long time and if someone want to pay going prices today for it Im all ears.

Thanks for posting that blast from the past. Your excellent pics give a great reference to what color was used on the Chicago era bullets.

I listed a NOS toddler (2.5”) with box on eBay a while back. I started by listing it as buy it now. It did not sell after a week or two. I then listed as a regular auction starting at $1. It sold for hundreds more than the buy it now price I has previously listed it for. Buyer ended up paying about $1,650 with shipping.

One never knows with ebay. I saw a red-painted Wilton 2.5 inch "toddler" in "pretty good" condition sell for a little more than $300. I don't know why hardly anyone bid on it.

I finally got to the paint store before getting the vise ready to ship. Below is what the Sherman Williams guys said anyone would need to show the counter guy at another Sherman Williams store to mix the same paint. The sample very closely matched the actual vise. The sample was on the back of a business card so texture and background were different but it look very very close to me. It’s an oil based paint. Hope this helps someone.

Second pic.

Just FYI I bought a quart of that paint yesterday something is off with the color. New paint looks more of a drab green/grey needs some more blue in it I think.

That picture of your vice doesn’t look like the paint I bought. The picture of the new vice I sold at the top of this page looked true to the color of the vice. The paint sample they mixed matched that vice very close.

Could your picture be different due to lighting?
Either that or they mixed the paint wrong

Label matches what you posted right down to the description ("clamp match" still laugh at that). IDK could be issue with their paint mixer then but codes are exactly the same. I think I'm going to take it back and see if they can add some more blue to it. That or may just pick one of the standard colors and buy a new can.

Good question about lighting there are florescents in garage I'll have another look but really think it needs more blue.

Well I just looked at a sample of the new paint on the back of a business card and held it up the vice in sunlight.

It could be that I am mistaken about the match but it looked very close to me.

I will be interested in where you wind up with this.

Well Sherwin Williams guy eyeballed the picture of your original vise and came up with this. Looks much closer to my eye based on pic (I realize it will never match perfectly).

Here is the revised formula in case anybody is interested.

I'll post a pic of vise after I paint it.

I think 941 was one of their original locations. I also found 936 Wrightwood as their original location. Both address don't appear to exist anymore as they are under the elevated train tracks. Of course the street numbers may have changed too.
