Bought this used Wilton model 9300 dated 1972 long ago and just now decided to freshen it up.
I disassembled it and blasted it with plastic media, then sprayed it with Rustoleum Hammered dark green and then a gas/oil resistant clear coat. The anvil pad was resurfaced on my milling machine, and the jaws were done on my 12" disc sander. There were numerous small dings on the handles so I just touched them up and painted them flat black to conceal the irregularities.
With fresh grease the mechanism is incredibly smooth. I think I need to find a large one now...
