Yep, another Wilton restoration thread! Honestly, this little guy really only needed to be stripped, the metal polished, and then a good paint job. This is my second attempt at a restoration, and I think it turned out pretty well. I wasn't going for a museum finish....just get it nice so someone can put it back to work. I'm planning to sell it, but it came out so nice I almost want to keep it next to it's big brother (600).

Here's the before and after:

WELL DONE GMAN!!

i'm waiting to see how the Reed 1c is going to be restored and please do a thorough breakdown with lots of pics either on its own thread or better maybe on the vise repair 101 thread that gets a lot more views.

you are a pro sir and maybe that Wilton shouldn't leave your shop because i used one similar for years before i knew there were other vises other than Wilton.

cheers

Thanks Drives!

I'm itching to get started on the 1C, but I need to get a swivel clamp made since one is missing. My father is coming to town soon, and I'm going to see if he thinks he can make one (has a mill and a lathe).

Either way, that one will get lots of pics and a nice writeup to go along with it!

I did get that stand, and that's staying with me! I'm planning on selling the 350 to pay for the stand. I actually already have someone interested. There was a guy with an ad on CL looking for a Wilton bullet in this size range.

It was pretty clean, and if I was going to keep it to use, I would have probably left it the way it was. For resale it seemed smart to get it even prettier :D

Nice job and I love that stand!

Thanks! I saw the stand and just had to have it. I figured I could restore the vise and sell it for enough that it was like getting the stand for free. I really do like the Wilton 350, and will probably regret selling it, but I can't keep them all without my wife catching on
