I'm in need of one. I did a search and didn't come up with anything. I found a new inner ring online. It's hard to tell in the picture but it looks like the new ones have it casted in the ring itself. Also the new ring is beefier in the middle too.

I'd like to keep the original ring. Does anyone know where to find a centering pin? If not can anyone with a new ring check to see if the centering pin is indeed casted into it?

Thanks.

Centering pin should be very easy to make. Just find a shouldered bolt with the correct od shoulder, tap the center hole in the ring to fit the threads on the bolt and cut everything to the correct size.

Either that or just find or make a pin that fits the hole if it is replaceable like it looks ?

Both holes (bottom of the vise and the base) are concaved.

I was hoping someone that had a stationary and added a swivel had a solution. I would probably be ok with just using some round bar as a dowel but I'd like to find one that fits correctly if I can. I went through my grass with a strong magnet and I never could find the original dowel.

I spoke with Wilton and they said they don't sell the dowel separately and that I'd have to buy the ring. On a positive note they're sending me a free Wilton made in the USA decal for the right side of the jaw.

Tore it down to de-grease it before putting in a bucket of evapo-rust.

I just pulled the top of my wilton off and it has a slightly different ring than yours.
The centering pin is pressed into the ring. The pin is steel and the ring is cast.
The pin is .500 in dia. and sticks up above the ring about .490.
Hope this helps.

If you don't have a metal detector, get a large magnet, put it in a plastic bag, and drag it through your yard. I've found lost items using this method.

It does, thanks.

I'm having some other issues with the base so I think I'm going to order a new inner ring and see if that helps. I picked up a .5" zinc plated round bar but it was only .46" and left some slop.

An actual dowel pin should be within .0005" of 0.5000". You can zip disk the un-needed part and "face" the end by rotating against a grinding wheel. Also chamfer carefully with a grinder.

Or its a good test of your lathe skills. Usually finding the original part by continuing to search is the best result :)
