Also if the vise was designed as a stationary model, would it still have the center button hole in the base?

Thats a very early 9500. In the 4 generations of Wilton machinist vises ( by generation I mean major feature changes) That is second generataion with the 5" W 3/4"H jaws. It had a solid one piece swivel base that did not allow 360 turn. Any newer base off a 4"-5" will fit. Year doesn't matter. Looking for new jaws? Buy the jaws that fit the 1750. They are cheap and might even be reversable.

Autopts,

Many thanks for the info! I could not dig up anything on this model. The original base would be a nice touch. Probably no luck finding one of those. I was lucky enough to find a 9350 at the same sale, it has a tighter tolerance in the tube than the one I posted.

Hey Outlaw,

Thanks for posting. I was lucky enough to pick up a 9350 at the same time, and while inspecting it I noticed the center of the base has a short centering dowel pin in a blind hole. So when I picked up the 9500 that Autopts identified, I noticed right away the same hole. So the question is did Wilton put that hole there regardless? or was it for swivel only designs?

From 1964, "All Wilton vises (machinists) are convertible between stationary and swivel types by attaching or removing swivel base assembly". I have yet to see a machinist or
machinist/combination without the center dowel pin hole, which is totally consistent with Wilton's statement in the 1964 SLIGO industrial catalog I am using as a reference.

There is a seller on Ebay selling 5" jaws for $29.95. Forget finding an original base, besides that vise will sit another 1" higher with a newer base then with the original and it will rotate 360. Be patient, you will eventually run into a broken 4"-5" newer Wilton on a swivel base. All Wilton Bullets come with a center non threaded hole that takes a dowel pin. That pin goes into the top of the swivel base to align it..

If they fit the 1750 they will fit fine 3/4"H X 5". Chances are that model at one time came with a base. I've really never seen a 9500 without one. Used parts are harder to come by then vises. Over the years I've been able to save some parts only because I, by mistake bought what I thought was a god vise and it was cracked somewhere so I stripped it. I have only one old original base but I have to save it for when I need it. Be patient, a broken bullet will eventually come your way.

autopts, see my thread titled [Drill Press Stand] one of the members thinks that it's a Buffalo Forge, anyway that's what this 9500 was mounted on. The stand is very heavy and has a vertical dove tail way and counter weight in the main tube. I'm going to try and sell it or use it as a barter tool once I verify what it's for.
