Looking at a used Wilton 500. it needs new jaws and does not have the swivel base. Any idea what the value would be?

One of the problems with the Wilton 500 is shipping. The darn things weigh so much that shipping costs are pretty steep. So hopefully it is a local pickup. That's how I got my 500.

Local pickup. That’s how I got my 500 as well. It is also missing the base.

A guy can’t just throw it into a cardboard box and send it off. The seller would have to just about have to build a crate. It might have to go via a freight carrier. These are all obstacles to a remote deal.

I have built crates for vises before. And I also bought a Wilton 3-1/2 inch that had just been shoved into a box. Luckily the post office taped it up after it punched its way out through the corner of that box.

I've also used USPS Priority Mail flat rate cardboard boxes for vises. I cut pieces of 1/8 inch plywood to put into the bottoms and sides to strengthen the cardboard.
