Saw this up for local auction, any thoughts on what would be the going rate? Claims to be a '93 vintage unit.

True auction price I have seen them go from $200 to $500. That is 150lbs of vise. It’s 26 in front to back closed.

I paid 500 for the one I have. which was is similar shape. the best and worst about these large wiltons is. Up untill 200 everyone wants it. then it is you and one other guy who decides the final price.

I sold one without a swivel base that was frozen and had been beaten half to death around 5 years ago for about $300. And that one you are looking at looks very good. My guess is that it will sell for over $500.

I guess it depends on if you are the buyer or if you're the seller.

I have to agree with the above
I paid $100 for mine, but I had to buy the base so I am into it for approx 3 Bills

Thanks for all the input, My preference would actually be a fixed base, but we'll see what happens. There is also a larger Columbian up as well, that one ends first.

Ah, Lack of proof reading (context) on my part. Larger refers to it being larger then most common vise's, it's being described as 21" (no model listed), The Wilton is bigger. Either one would be nice to have though.

That one looks well used but not abused, IMHO.

$500 would be a quite reasonable price, it's 25% of what a new one would cost.

For comparison, I paid $380 for a new 1780A at auction recently (1780A being larger but cheaper, and a little less desirable)

So auction is over, Didnt get the Wilton. Also as it turns out the base has cracks so they revised the listing, went for 260$ +15%, so 299$ plus tax. , A new base looks to be 225$. Probably will kick myself for not going more, but oh well.

Not a total loss, I did get the Columbian.

Nice score for $65!

I gave $300 for a Wilton 500 with a nice, heavy homemade stand earlier this year...

It would be stroke of good luck to find a 600 in good shape like the photo for $500 in this area.

I noticed the prices of the Wiltons jumped up over $500 near me too. Used to be able to buy cores for $50, which I why I ended up with eight of them. Now everyone wants $650 for a tradesman.

Since some of you and I also prefer a fixed base vise for heavy work, there are good deals to be had on a big vise missing the base. I got a steal deal on a big Rock Island without the swivel base. I made a 1"x14 TPI center hold-down bolt and two standard 1/2" bolts on the sides where the locking clamps were. It ain't going nowhere.
