I am not sure where this goes, but I thought I would try here first.
I overstressed an old wilton 744 vice.
Made in USA apparently back in the late 70's to 1980.
I thought it might be the screw or nut. I took those out of the vice, but they seem to work fine independently of the vice.
My first problem is the nut portion was held in by 2 independent pins.
I see now that there appears to be no way to get them out of the nut portion.
I could drill them out maybe, but I was hoping there might be an easier solution?
Second because those 2 parts work fine, my only conclusion is I tweaked the slider portion of the jaw.
I had no idea you could even do that.
Is the a procedure to square it again?
trying to slide it in by itself kind of confirms this.
It is binding at the top, but easy to slide at the bottom, at least on 1 side.
I can see the protrusions built into the body to guide it, and it rubs pretty badly at the top.
