I have recently acquired two Wilton 800N's from my place of employment. These two vises were used in an assembly area where they were bolted to a 3000 lb. lift table. That work area has recently been changed, and one of the four lift tables was removed. I would like to sale one or both of these vises, and thought this may be a good place to start.

I would like $800.00 for either vise, but will except offers. I haven't cleaned anything, so you can see how they were cared for. They both work as they should. The soft jaws from the second vise have been removed, but can easily be replaced.

Vises are located in zip 40342.

The jaws that are in there were made by our tool room out of 2024 Aluminum. These vises were used in our assembly area where Hydraulic cylinders are made. So the aluminum is used so not to mark up the piston rods of the cylinders while pistons are mounted.

I was told by one of our maintenance persons that this particular Lift table was installed 10 years ago. I cannot confirm that. If someone can tell me how to date the vises accurately, I would be glad to do that.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. These vises have been removed from the table they were mounted on, and are quite heavy and unbalanced when extended.

I have ran both of the vises out as far as I felt comfortable. The only numbers I could find were a 5 and then a 2. Based on what I have read this morning, I guess that would date these vises to 1997?

I have asked for documentation showing when the work area was created where these vises were used. I am certain that they were bought new for that project.

I believe that you are correct that it is a Month/ Year format.

I was under the impression that this date was when the 5 year warranty expired. So the actual manufacture date would have been during the month of May in the year 1997.

Sorry, I don't have them.

I just went out to our tool room to ask if someone might know where they might be. Hopefully, someone might remember that far back.

The Vises that I have are two of the 10 Vises that were being used. These two vises were on the only lift table that was removed. The other eight vises are still in service.

All of the serrated jaws are removed before being installed. There is no good way to clamp material without some damage with the factory jaws.

I will reply if I am able to get my hands on any of the factory serrated jaws.

That was only in the early years of Wilton that it was the warranty expire date.
05/02 certainly means May of 2002 as a build date and I know for a fact since the 70's that was the case for those formats.

Those vises were about $2,700 list price new in 2007, the last price sheet I have. But most likely they were purchased at about 25% off list as a benchmark.

When we used to get orders for those we would call the customers to insure they new what they were getting because they are so big. Literately half would come back after delivery if we didn't do that, because they would say they wanted the biggest vice they could get, but had no idea how big a 800 Wilton is!
