I picked this Wilton 846 up and it is in need of a new set of jaws. The jaws are 5" I have searched and cannot seem to find any place where I can buy replacement jaws with screws. Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried GJ member KMScott? Here is a link to one of his pages.
His work is EXCELLENT!

Are your old jaws really that bad? Get the rust off and wire wheel them...they might be good enough. New jaws are pricey. Depends on your biudget and what you have planned for that old Wilton.

Hopefully your didn't pay a lot for that project vise. Is that your first and only vise? Unless you are an accomplished welder accustomed to fixing cracks in cast iron, I would start searching for a better restoration candidate. Maybe you can luck out and find a replacement base for little $$. But if you need jaws as well as a base... (you know where I am going with this)

IIWY, I would look for a better vise to restore and keep the rusty Wilton under a bench somewhere until a new base and some jaws fall into your lap.

Another thing you could possibly do is to bolt it down to your bench without the swivel base. You can drill one more hole in the main vise body on the side opposite the swivel lock down bolt. You can fabricate your own soft home made jaws from aluminum or even hard rubber. Soft jaws are handy for clamping down smaller things that you don't want marred from jaw serrations.

I didn't pay much at all for that vise. I was a welder for almost 10 years but only had minimal experience welding cast iron. I did do some using nickel rod as well as some brazing. The vise is currently my only one but that can and likely will change. I have had some Parker vises in the past. I'm not a collector really so I let them go. I'm just looking for a good all around vise to use in my home shop. I will for now forget about this Wilton as it isn't worth sinking money into. I appreciate the help and advice.

I have the same vise and they restore well. Sorry to hear about the cracks. I see yours is also missing the pipe jaws. I am still looking for the pipe jaws to complete my restoration with no luck. FYI original color was a grayish almost primer color, Good Luck!!
