I just bought this vise on eBay it's coming from Bullhead City, Arizona It should arrive to Los Angeles before the weekend. I think I'm going to paint it sage green color similar to the color Wilton company used on it's early vises. Any clue to what brand of paint and name of the color? I appreciate any suggestions and ideas. Thanks

Read below the seller's description of this vise.

Good luck finding it. Amazon has it, but it's crazy expensive for a can. Lowes has it online, but you have to buy a 6 pack, but it's about cheaper for 6 from Lowes than 1 from Amazon.

Thank you dhammond for the info. That's the green I will use.

FYI, the Hammered Verde Green is what was used on the later Schiller Park vises. Your Pat Pending vise will use a plain (almost lime) green paint. Wait a bit longer and someone will chime in with a paint color---or message "Balane" as he has done a zillion Wiltons and will know.

He will likely recommend a Rustoleum Sage Green, and that is what I used. Mine came out very glossy since I post baked it for a few minutes while it was still partially uncured.

It's absurd, Amazon and Lowes do not sell individual cans, they sell it only as a 6 pack. Monopoly at it's best.
I will keep looking am sure I will find it sold as individual cans in some small store around LA.

Thank you Bill
I think I will paint it the Sage Green, and thank you for the link to it. It says my local Home Depot might have it in stock, it's only a couple of miles away, I will call Home Depot when they open and see if they have it. Thanks again Bill

I like the color of your vise, you did a great job. I think Sage Green is more relaxing color compare it to the busy harsh Hammered Verde Green.
By the way I noticed you don't have the acorn locking nuts on yours, so what's the idea?

Maryland for now
I ended up buying the 6 pack as well from my local Fastenal but I had more than one vise to do so it wasn't a problem. Figured I'd throw a side by side of the two greens for future readers to this thread and it's well covered in other threads as well. Looking forward to seeing yours complete JB.

AFAIK, the acorn nuts were on the earliest Wiltons produced during WW2. My vise is a 1946 consumer model, and I believe it had originally come with (or was available with) the popular sliding hold down clamp knobs. I reproduced mine from bronze (like the originals), but they are likely available from Kevin Scott as well.

I got on Menards website to buy one can of Rust Oleum Sage Green, and I was excited they have it and only $5.39 so when I proceeded to checkout as a Guest & after filling all my personal info and got to final checkout, to my shock Menards added $2.80 processing fees plus $9.79 shipping fees, so the total for one can came to $17.98. Is Menards a Mafia run business? Who knows we live in a very corrupt strange World.

I think you have a zillion Home Depots near you, and they usually carry it stock:
