I recently picked up a 1960 built Wilton 9350 bullet vise at a swap meet. The vise is in overall great condition, except for the shop made aluminum jaws that are to say the least, gnarly.

I'm cleaning it up and giving it a bit of a restoration and I've already made a new set of smooth aluminum jaws, but I'd like a proper set of steel jaws for it. From what I have seen the originals would have been 1/2" by 3/4" with bolt holes on a 2-3/8" center. Wilton prices are crazy for the service part for the current production vise and I am not even sure that they would fit correctly. There is a guy on ePay that is selling jaws made for various sizes of Wilton vises and he even specs some of them as being for the 93xx series of vises. Except he for some reason skips over the 3.5". Does anyone here have a recommendation for acquiring a good set?

Thanks autopts, but those don't appear to be the correct ones. The height and thickness of the jaws are too large and they are setup for installation with 5/16" hardware. My 9350 used 1/4" hardware.

Did you inquire? I think he knows that size takes 1/4" That jaw is 3.50 W X .750H, 1/4" screws right?

I am the builder of the e-bay jaws you are talking about and yes I do not carry the ones you are looking for but I do have the steel on order to finish all sets from 3", 3-1/2, 4", 4-1/2 and the 5 inch set. These will complete my product line for all Wilton Jaws for the older vises. If you could check back on my Wiltonviseparts site in about a month, I should have what you need.

Hi KMScott, I tried sending a PM but got a weird error so I'm just going to respond here in case the PM didn't go through.

I am definitely interested in the jaws once you get the material available. I am curious though, if there is any option for the level of serration on the jaws. I would actually like to come up with a set that has a bit finer pattern than the normal Wilton pattern.

Let me know if that might be possible.

Thanks

Copper jaw liners might help to give you the best of both worlds.

Hi Tom
Yes I can reduce the pitch of the serrations, I have three serrations pitches I use. The first are the roughest they have a pitch of .100 between points x ,045 deep I use these on all jaws 3" and above like Wilton does, On the older 3/4 width jaws I use .075 pitch x .035 deep, these I copied from the old Wilton Cadet models. Then I use a .05 pitch x .025 deep for the 2" baby vise. The pitch is easy to figure out as long as you have good eyes and a set of calipers. The serrations are cut at a angle of 30 degrees and if you could measure the point to point at the 30 degrees then I would know what pitch you like. I think you would be happy with the .075 but see what you come up with. I am starting a new run of jaws this weekend and if you could respond then I would run a custom set.

Have you seen my website? wiltonviseparts.net You maybe can see the difference in serrations by looking at my pictures.

Hi KMScott, I just saw your reply. For some reason I keep getting unsubscribed to threads, so I didn't get an email that anyone replied to the thread. I'll do some measuring and verify what I'd need.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi KMScott, I finally got to take a look at a vise I have that has a pattern I like and I think that the .075 pitch would probably be a good one to go with.

Thanks
