Hello members,
I did a general google search for wilton 9450 vise and found alot of good info here.

I stopped at a garage sale on the way home from work today and picked up this vise. It's a wilton 9450.

It has a wilton label on the front of the vise. Is this an original label? or was this put on by someone in the past?

Everything works good so far.

Attached are some pitures

I picked up a 4" Wilton a couple years ago and it had the remnants of that exact same sticker in the same location so I'd venture a guess that it's an original label.

NickelTwin: i agree you have a nice vise there and i can't say I've seen that label or that lettering cast on the side on any Wilton so far. it looks like original casting and jaws are in great shape for a vise that old.

if you want to see when it was made unscrew out the dynamic (front) jaw all the way. don't drop it as it comes out and if you clean up the slide on the bottom a date should show up. can you take more pictures of the other sides and of the slide if you want more information?

post them here and on the vises thread like Oldie suggested. we have quite a few Wilton guys that might see it to give you more help so plenty of pictures is always good. sometimes it might still be a mystery, but Canuck sounds like he has seen the label before too.

also welcome to the Journal and hope you stick around to learn more and teach us what you know. cheers

Mine is a Schiller park wilton but the casting on the side is a little different. Mine is a 101028 (4") so I don't know if that makes a difference. Not a very close up pic but you can see how it's different.

Thanks for the info so far.

Well, I walked out and checked on slide and it had 173 stamped on the bottom of the slide.

I also just took a picture of the other side and the numbers on the dynamic jaw.

Nickel: that is one sweet looking Wilton vise for being made over 40 years ago. your vise was put on the shelf to sell in January 1973. also funny the other side's casting marks look pretty typical of the Wilton vises i usually see.

it's a keeper so take care of it and don't use it as a press or hammer or hit it with a hand grinder and your grandkids will have it on their bench 50 years from now.

if you don't already know about the Vises of Garage Journal thread i just posted on it so it's at the top for you to post pictures of your Wilton and ask about the label and casting because they are not common.
