Hello I recently acquired a wilton 9450 bullet vise and I am going to clean it up. I inherited the vise and would like to get it back in good condition. The stamping on the vise indicates it was manufactured in January 1972. Does anyone know what size the face screws are so I could order new ones? TIA

Post some pictures of that bad boy!
On my 1965 4-1/2 inch Wilton the screws are 5/16-18 and the length of the threaded part is 3/4.
Here is a picture of one I just pulled off my vise. I think Wilton used proprietary machine screws.

The best way to be sure is to take one out and measure. Are all 4 hopelessly bunged up? If so do you plan to drill them out or use an EZ out tool or ???

I would replace them with socket head screws. You will need to grind the heads a tad or buy low-profile screws such as Mcmaster sells.

Thank you for the welcome and the replies I will get pictures tomorrow of the vise. I currently work at a gun shop for my second job as a gunsmith and this vise was greatly appreciated and needed. I will order some hex head bolt now that I know the size. The screws are starting too get a little buggered out and dont want them stripping out on me. The vise is still in wonderful shape. I took it apart today and cleaned it up in the ultrasonic cleaner and media blaster and sprayed it with rustoleum primer. I had planned to cover it in a gloss machine grey but ran out of time! Always someone needing a repair! The vise was my grandfather's and I would like to keep it up to pass to my kids one day. Thank you all again!

Hex head bolts won't work without some machining--they will sit on the face of the insert and you won't be able to close the vise completely. Now you could turn the heads down, but then you'd have to mill a slot to tighten them. But maybe you are planning on doing that. The heads of the machine screws on my 4-1/2 measure 1/2" in diameter.

Looks good. What did you finally do about the machine screws for the jaw inserts?

For the time being I just reused them, the heads are pretty buggered up so I didn't tighten them down real tight. I mainly use soft jaws for everything so it's working well.
