Gentleman,
I had a very surreal weekend. I had one of those things happen to me that we only read about every now and then.
My sister is set to get married in this coming June at my grandparents estate. As many of you know, a graduation or wedding is the best excuse for relatives to enlist your help in moving, cleaning, scrubbing, and landscaping their property.
Anywho, my grandfather and I were going through his barn and sorting things for the dumpster, save and scrap metal piles. In one of his crates he had filled with scrap iron, I saw the bottom of what appeared to be a Wilton PowrArm. I gave it a tug and sure enough, it was. What was even better, there was a Wilton Baby Bullet attached to it!
I asked him if he knew what it was and he apparently thought the rust made it scrap. I told him the value of the vise and that he should hang on to it. He asked if I wanted it, and I'll give you three guesses what I said. I offered to pay him for it, but he said helping prep for the wedding was payment enough.
Its actually in really great shape. The jaw moves and the rust is only on the surface, it doesn't appear to be pitted badly or anything. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and back on my bench in the shop. Now to find the original Wilton color...
