Hey guys I just ended up buying an old 5" Wilton bullet vise which I've wanted for a while. It's in good shape but the problem is the end cap is missing. I guess this is pretty common so I've searched to where to pick up an replacement with no luck. Does anyone know where I can find one? It's going to bug me until I an get one on there. I'll try an post pics tonight of the actual vise. But it's a 5' jaw model and about 20" or so overall long

Go to NAPA or any real parts store and get a freeze plug. Here's a 5" Wilton with a freeze plug end cap. It could be tapped in a little deeper but I kept it loose until I restore the vise.:

Brad: Dave's freeze plug works and the auto parts stores i think carry brass ones too if you want some color. i'm not sure which one to order for your 5 inch Wilton, but the wheel bearing covers at Etrailer.com has some that fit some bullet vises.

there is a lot of information on the vise repair 101 thread in Vintage tool section if you want to learn some more about yours and other old vises.

good luck
