Thanks autopts. 500S sounds right. It weighs 96 lbs. I was thinking maybe a 500N because my 4.5" jaw Wilton is a 450N. (green vise) The model number doesn't appear anywhere on the vise.

Any idea about how to remove the dynamic jaw?

Unscrew the the thrust washer via the three screws and the lead screw will screw out and you should be able to pull out the jaw.

You can make a new handle fairly easy. Like mentioned, unscrewing it all the way, sometimes taking the spindle out first is easier. If you are talking about where the channel bar is pressed ito the dynamic jaw leave it be. Its set with a dowel pin at he factory. And aother thing, avoing taking the back housing off. Its not worth the trouble.

Looking at the outside of that vise, rust might not be the issue. It may have been closed like that for awhile. Rest it back at maybe a 45 degree angle and drench the permiter where the bar goes into the body. Let it sit..Take a big hammer and a block of wood and knock it around a few times. It will come out.
