Maybe a 9450 or 9145? My 450s weighs in at 80 pounds or so. 57 pounds seems light for a 450s? It is older than mine though.

Wilton made 4 generations of models for the 4" 4 1/2" & 5". That one is 1st generation and it looks in nice condition. Its was what eventually became the 9450 (2nd Gen) then in the late 50's, early 60's wilton added 1"H jaws and it evolved into the 9450/101033 360 swivel ( 3rd gen) which took it into the 70's into the 72 lb bigger jaws, bigger anvil. (4 gen) and basically todays model except they did away with the end cap housing and moved it inside the fuseladge. I believe the 9145 was the 4 1/2" Cadet, not sure though. Replacement jaws are still available and inexpensive.

Something's odd about how far that the screw extends out the back of that... I have a #4 of similar vintage, and the end cap doesn't look deep enough to cover the screw. I wonder if the nut was removed and re-installed backward at some point?

The jaws also don't come together and touch. But they are worn badly. Maybe dental work would fix the thread problem.

Date code says November 1946! Could be the 5-year warranty expiration making it a production date of November 1941. One of the earliest ones built. Hell, I'd keep it . . . at least until the economy comes back. :)

Hello. I'm a newbie with a couple older Wilton bullet vises -- one with 4 1/2 jaws (9450) and the other, 5". Both have lost the swivel base and they both measure 6 3/4" diameter. Do these both take the same swivel base?

I'm enjoying the vise fervor.

Thanks!

Yes, they do take the same swivel base, also the 9400

creative DIY swivel base solution? Re: Wilton Bullet Vise

I've searched but have not found any homemade Wilton swivel bases as the new part is too expensive. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
