I think he is a member here, I'm pretty sure he posted that cascading vise picture on here.
My previous post was deleted because it was in the vise thread, but this is a member here. He was upset when the buyer tried to negotiate with him.

Those Wilton vises actually seem to be "fairly" priced as far as eBay goes. The thing is, eBay is a different market. I spent $60 on a 204 1/2" reed but had to drive 2 hours to get it. Anything on CL should be priced at less than eBay.
If these sellers can get those prices good for them, I sat on a refurbed American Scale w/ 4" jaws for about 2 months and got $70 for it.
FWIW I really liked the American Scale vise, that is only the 2nd I have seen, they are solid chucks of vise that *typically* don't have the name recognition that Wilton, Columbian, Reed, Athol etc. have. I bought mine for $25...

Agree with pipsters, CL prices should be less than eBay, given time and hassle, etc. If they weren't, what would be the point of CL?
That said, if the seller gets what he's asking more power to him. (If you want to see a real Wilton restoration however, check out autopts eBay listings...)

I agree that the term "restored" is being tossed around pretty loosely these days. If a vise has a new rattle can paint job but the jaws show wear and the anvil is still chewed up, I consider it more of a recondition then a restoration.
That being said, the prices listed in the ad are on the high side but you see a few on EBay go for similar amounts. You know what they say, you can negotiate down but never up.

I've actually purchased vises from that guy before. Hes a nice guy and has quite a few of them stored away in his garage. Those prices are a bit high but who doesn't want to try and get top dollar for what they're selling?
He can ask those prices all day long but its up to the buyer to decide if its worth the money. I was able to work out a slightly lower price from what he was asking on the Athol i bought from him

I have that same vise and i love it. I paid $175 for it a few years back and it was well worth it. I have seen them for $400-$800 but i wouldnt sell mine for $1000
