Came across this vise on a local ad site.
I really have no idea what a fair price would be to offer. I like it & would love to own it. But I won't overpay for it. I would like to establish a high, fair, & low price if I can.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

It's a C2 by the way. $350 would not be out of the ballpark.

Those numbers (101059 and 101250) match the C2 which is a 5" vise that weighs about 100 pounds. You'd have to be pretty lucky to get that for $50 around here. Wiltons fetch a pretty penny and that one looks like it's in good shape.

If it was here, I'd offer $50 but I'd pay up to $125 if I had to have it.

On ebay that's a $250 and up vise. $50 might sound great but chances are you will get laughed at...if you really want it, pay up. Nice vise. I wouldn't pay $250 for it but would easily go half that maybe a bit more.

By the way, be sure you really want it before committing, it's really large.

Brand new retail is $1000. I just bought a 50 year old 4" one for $60. I wouldn't feel bad paying $200-$300 for it.

Thanks for all the responses, They really helped. They are asking $500.00 for it which I thought it was crazy high. It looks like it is high but not a crazy as I thought. They say it is a 5" that weighs 100 pounds. I think I would be willing to pay $250.00 but that's my max. Now I'm debating on offering less & trying to barter up to my 250 max or just come straight out & offer the 250. In either case I don't think they will bite it was just listed last night.

Thanks again for your help.

Offer your $250, but be willing to go to at least $300, you don't want to kick yourself a week from now. From what I have seen high price vises don't go fast simply beacuse many people don't value them for what they are. Many people will just go and by a big new chicom vise for $100.

Yeah I think that price is honest and fair for that vise... It's not often you come across a good 5" combo like that... Even $300 is a steal compared to a new one.

R6,

If you can't make a deal post up the seller info here. I might be willing to make a trip to Canada for a mint C2...

I am still kicking myself for not buying an older (pre 1960's) 6" Wilton that was for sale for $350 near me a little over a year ago.
I could have afforded it, but was too cheap to pay what it was worth.
Now I wish I had it on my welding table.

If you need a vise and are willing to pay 250-300, get it. I just bought a C1, complete with pipe jaws for 150.00 and its in really nice shape. Its gonna need some paint but it looks hardly used.

Don't pass on this vise yet. See what kind of price you can work out with them

Your post made me laugh a little. I was at sears today, trying to find some replacement bits for my impact driver, and saw a guy checking out the cheap vises and was getting kind of excited when he found one he liked.

I almost said something, considering i probably have more vises in my garage then Sears has even had in stock, but figured if he was willing to plunk down the money for an import vise, he probably didn't care. :D

Went to a yard sale today and saw a 6" Wilton vise for $90. And we got there early and it was already sold.
