Wilton C1 vise, no date

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I came across this old C1 that was covered in a 1/4 " of dirt and grease. I cleaned it up and realized that it was in pretty good shape. The jaws are good, pipe jaws are great, swivel locks are good, everything is straight, cap is there. I'm curious on the date and value. I have a bullet that is stamped on the key, but this one is not. My guess is it was made around the time they move from their original factory. Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

Your right, that C1 is a beauty! "Chicago" on the sides narrow it down somewhat but not much. Early 1940's thru about early 1950's. It could be a very early one that went out before Wilton started stamping the bottom and about 1952-53 Wilton started stamping a GUAR EXP DATE on the keyway. That's a wonderful find.

I felt pretty guilty for what I gave for it, but I had no idea what was hiding under all the crud. And the slide was real tough to move. Works better than a new one now.

Without the occasional bargain, life would be dull. That's a nice looking vice.

Hey Autopts I thought the C series vises didn't come out until the late 40's? Earliest stamped one in my database is 1948 but there are other unstamped ones.
