Wilton C2 Vise FS

Here I have a Wilton C2 vise. Made in America. It doesn't have a date in the keyway, it is used military surplus. Jaws are 5" wide and it weighs right at 100 lbs. This is a vise of excellent quality, but I won't fool you into thinking that it doesn't need some TLC.

The front has a dent in it from repeated heavy hammer blows (NO idea why they chose to hit it right there instead of the anvil area). One regular jaw and both pipe jaws are missing. The handle is bent. The pins that hold the thread mechanism in place are missing, although that is a very minor problem. One of the pieces with teeth for the swivel mechanism is missing.

I know that sounds like a lot, but what you have to keep in mind is that this is a very solidly built, American made Wilton vise that will serve for many years if properly restored. I have too many vises at the moment and would love to see this go to a good home.

100 lbs will not be cheap to ship, but I will take $125 for it shipped (lower 48 only).

Looks like someone sanded the paint off of much of the vise, so there are clean metal spots and painted spots.

At least that's what it looks like to me.

That is correct. It had some kind of ugly military green paint plastered all over it. I hit it with a wire wheel for a while until I lost interest because it was so thick and difficult to get off. Since then, I have found that a dip in a hot tank works much better.

Does it truly weigh 100 pounds or is that a guesstimate? USPS wont ship anything over 70 pounds, so thats out. Then it starts getting REALLY pricey with the other shippers. I would love to have it, but dont think it will ship too easily. Can you weigh it? (you may already have...)

Well, he did hint at a good idea. he could break the vise down and ship the components separately to avoid going over the USPS limit.

Does it truly weigh 100 pounds or is that a guesstimate? USPS wont ship anything over 70 pounds, so thats out. Then it starts getting REALLY pricey with the other shippers. I would love to have it, but dont think it will ship too easily. Can you weigh it? (you may already have...)

Yeah, I have weighed it myself. My own bathroom scales said 96 and I've seen other people either here or on practical machinist say they got similar weights. Its a solid chunk of metal for sure. However, I priced shipping to PA via Fedex Ground for $60, so its not as bad as I originally thought. With Fedex, a package doesn't have to be shipped by freight until 150 lbs.

I've shipped heavy stuff, (flywheel/clutch, wheels) on Greyhound for reasonable rates. Just have to take it to the depot and have the buyer pick it up at the depot on the other end.

I've never tried that but if someone is interested, I don't mind shipping it that way at all.

I've also been doing some measuring and I just don't think that I could ship it separately in flat rate boxes. The moveable slide is 14" long by itself and the biggest USPS flat rate box that I saw was 12" x 12" x 5.5". However, the other pieces I could probably fit. The handle is 14" long but it should be able to fit diagonally.
