I am going to clean up an old Wilton vise. I noticed that it still has a tiny scrap of the original decal on the back, close to the end cap. Does anyone have an old Wilton with one of these decals intact...and would you be willing to post some large pictures of the decal? I plan on recreating it for my vise. Thanks!

Ok, incentive: The first person who posts a picture of an intact decal will receive $10 via paypal. The decal I'm referring to is most likely red/black/gold with a "wavy border".

It is indeed a water transfer decal and original. These in no way will help but it is a start.

That is a good start. What I really need to know is what the decal said, and what the font looks like. I can piece the rest together. Thank you very much. Another incentive, I will send a set of decals (in addition to $10) to the winner.

I don't know of a good source but with all the vise gurus their is bound to be someone with copys or original catalogs.

I have a few Wiltons with decals that are only partly there. It seems they used a variety of different ones from what I've seen. I'm not very knowledgable on these but I have one vise with a complete decal. The problem is its on a woodworking vise so not sure they are the same. I hope it helps. (Sorry, reread your second post and this is most likely not the one your looking for. I will leave it up just in case it helps you.)

If you actually do get what you are looking for and manage to make a perfect copy I am pretty sure you can sell them to every wilton restorer for $10 a pop.

BHH - I hadn't thought of that, but its a good idea. I'm kind of conflicted about that, though. Wouldn't be right to make money off of something you guys helped me put together. Besides, if Wilton found out, I'd get a cease and desist letter and/or sued for all profits. Maybe I can misspell on the decal WITLON.

However, if a restorer wants a particular decal, I can do that for you. Wilton or not. I wouldn't charge $10, unless it was really complicated.

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the help I'm getting. The decal in question is out there, I'm sure. I'll just keep digging.

They are not going to spend lawyer money on something worth less than a few hundred or less tops.

If you feel conflicted then anyone who helped gets a free one!

I would call Wilton directly. They might sell you one. I have called them before regarding paint. They were not helpful in that regard.

I really doubt they have any original ones left.

BHH - That's a good idea! Anyone who helps get some free decals. I hope they turn out well. Stormking and sslander just posted some that are like new. Those will be easy to reproduce.

I called Wilton. They were friendly, but clueless. To cover my bases (and my ***), I asked to speak with their legel representation to express my intent. They took my number and said he would call back. You're right, they most likely won't bother to pursue retribution. The funds (if any) raised by this mini venture will probably cover the cost of the decal paper and printing ink.

I also joined OWWM, in the hope that others have well-preserved decals. It would be great to extend this beyond Wilton.

Finally getting somewhere. This is the logo that was for sure on my Vise. It will be interesting trying to piece this together. Pretty big, and it looks like it also served the purpose to show if the back had every been taken off possibly for warranty reasons?

Some of the model number is missing. Piecing together the bottom line between the three pictures, it appears to read: NO. 20---AW-.

Can someone fill in the blanks?

Someone must have a catalogue or something with a black and white photo of the sticker. We know the colors so now we just need to know everything else haha.

From 1953-1956 BSP (before Shiller Pk.) they show smaller stickers on their bigger vises but the vises are at eye level you you barely notice the sticker. Someone will come out of the closet.

Everyone, thanks for the great contributions. I have completed the first draft of the baby bullet decal. I won't be able to print them until next week. Until then, I will tweak it. At that time, I'll collect mailing addresses and send out the decals. Here's a preview of the first draft.

One last thing. I need to know how the height and width. I have guessed that it is 1.75" x .875". How close is that guess?

Can we see a sample? (maybe put "Proof" over it so no one steals it)

Will you be making other sizes for bigger vices?

A note to newcomers to this thread: The Wilton decals were a cooperative effort to reconstruct decals for my own use. Those who responded to my initial request for help are receiving free decals for their generosity.

If others need decals reconstructed and printed, I can do that for you. The cost of paper and ink adds up, so I can't do them for free. The price varies depending on how detailed and complex the logo is. I can reconstruct most anything, so fire away.

Well, I can change the text to reflect whatever size Wilton you have. Maybe you decal would say:
WILTON
MADE IN U.S.A.
NO. 300S 3" JAWS

As you know, there are other decals in the works. Maybe another would be more suitable for your Wilton.
