An American made Wilton DP is for sale locally full size press. I don't have the Model # but spindle speeds range from 500 to 5500 has a front face showing speeds and material. $75.00 I don't really have room for it but sure would like to have it. I assume a name brand American made drill press would be decent quality?

I don't think you'd ever get hurt at $75, but it looks like the motor pulley is a single sheave, so you'd need to find one if that's the case. Could be it's the right pulley installed wrong, but I doubt it.
Good luck

Agreed that the motor pulley looks wrong, and a replacement could easily cost $25-50. Also, no table lift which is often a deal breaker for many people.

I own a US-made Wilton dp and like it very much. Mine is a variable speed version, but the best feature is its 6-inch spindle stroke. If this dp has the long stroke, I would buy it and negotiate a lower cost based on the missing pulley.

Ok at $75. But for American made, doesn't hold a candle to the same size Delta-Rockwell, Powermatic, Clausing or even an old Atlas.

Not sure how you know that. My Wilton is slightly different looking than the OP's, but it is every bit as good as my Clausing and has a longer stroke. And WAY better than a Delta-Rockwell DP220/225 or 50's Atlas.

BTW, I spoke with a former Wilton production manager and he said that Wilton made their own drill presses---not purchased from someone else.

Ya no kidding. You and I have virtually the same unit and it's a damn nice DP that's seen more holes then Ron Jeremy ever dreamed of. After close too 3 decades of constant use it's still in incredible shape.

For $75 unless something that can't be replaced is busted what are you waiting for.

It might say "Schiller Park" but I was told a long time ago by a old Wilton salesman that Wilton's early drill press came out of Germany. If the bolts are standard or metric might be one way to find out.

I saw a modern unit pretty heavy duty that was made in Sweden or something like that...

Your picture is of a substantially different model. I have the exact same Wilton model as pictured in the OP's post. It is a lightweight compared to a Delta 15". The DP-220 is a 14" machine, and it's head casting is probably about the same weight as that Wilton.
