I just joined this forum to find info on Wilton vises & happened to see this today.

What are people thinking? $3500 for a vise?

Am I just uninformed & this might get somewhere close to this amount?

If the seller has done his due diligence, he might think his asking price is close enough. I think, one of the main contributors to the new high pricing can be blamed on the You Tube makers. More than a few of these persons are making really big money on their videos. Sudden riches allow the nouveau riche who have recently acquired wealth to buy the things they want regardless of the price.

To be fair, that’s a huge vise.. And they do command some respect on the secondary market. I believe full Msrp is north of $3500, it’s easier to come down on price, versus ask more when a interested party shows up.

Vises don't depreciate much. Short of being abused, there's really not much that can go wrong, and that one is in perfect shape. It's $3,800 new, so it's saving someone a few hundred bucks plus tax and shipping if they're local.

Well…I guess I was simply uninformed. I probably should have googled for pricing of a new 8” before posting something that probably won’t be helpful or interesting to anyone other than myself. Still, thank you all for replying so quickly with some good information.

Is that thing sitting on a full sized pallet? It has to weigh several hundred pounds!

just uniformed. That is the biggest model not made any more and was 3800 dollars msrp when discontinued. Having used one for years it is an amazing vice or vise depending on how you want to look at it
