I’ve been wanting a Wilton vise for years and was hanging on hoping to run across a deal. Went to an industrial shop liquidation and all the stuff I wanted was gone and at the end of a dark isle sat this gem. Don’t hate me but I got it for $10.00 with the stand!! 12-53 date code on the bottom guide rail so from what I have read it’s a 1948.

You should measure the jaw width. If it is 6" than it is a model 600, 5" 500, 4.5 Model 450 etc. Looks like a beauty especially for 10 dollars. Great find

The castings on your vise were produced only in 1941 and 1942. The "fish hooks" on the sides date to those 2 years. But Wilton didn't date their war-time vises. Your's is not the only 'fish hook' Wiltons to be stamped long after the war ended in 1945. Evidently in '41 and '42 they produced a lot of castings, and used them up as the years progressed. Congrats on getting a great vise.
