This is a Wilton Pat Pend No. 4 with the original paint and much of the rear stick left intact. This is the earliest style Wilton and very likely was made during the first year (give or take) or production. Wilton applied for the patent in 1941 and it was issued in 1942. It's likely they removed the "Pat Pen/Pat Pend" after the patent was issued, and that also seems to coincide with a change the the shape of the dynamic jaw into a more round profile.
It was missing one screw in the horseshoe collar, but I had one that matched save for the patina. Other than that, I believe it's exactly the way it left the factory. It's clearly been used and shows some wear but no damage or abuse that I can find. All I've done was wipe it down, remove the dynamic (no date on the key) lubricate it, and put it back together.
