I aquired this Wilton no 60 vice. It seems to be in very nice condition. My plan is to disassemble it, lube everything, then paint it the correct color. I plan to use it when it is done. It does have feature that is new to me, the stationary jaw is capable of swinging when the pin is released by tightening the hex nut. Is this common? Also does anyone know how to determine how old this vice is?
thanks!

Wilton stamped date codes in their vises.
I believe the codes are stamped on the dynamic, ie. movable jaw, near the rear, possibly in the keyway.
Other GJ members have posted the swivel jaw Wilton vises, but the vises seem to be somewhat uncommon.
The vises do appear in the 1958 Wilton Catalog.
I’m not sure when the vises were manufactured thru.
The price of a swivel jaw vise might have bern 40%+/- over the cost of a fixed jaw at the time of manufacture.
Maybe someone else has more info.
