Hi guys, i have been researching for a while and i cant seem go find any info on a bullet like this with what appear to have the jaws mounting (bolting on) from the front. If anyone could provide any insight/history and maybe a value that would be greatly appreciated. It has a 6inch jaw length and supposedly works great and has no flaws.

I think that's just a style they switched away from at some point. I've seen plenty of them, not rare that I know of.

That’s one hell of a nice vise. If you need a super heavy duty one, grab it! Yes you might want to take it apart before carrying it off. It weighs over 150 pounds.

That’s the way they were made back then and some guys prefer it because there are no screws exposed to possible damage when clamping things.

Just a modern 600s, with the two piece dynamic jaw. The later 800 and 600 as well as the c3 units had the jaws like that. Reduces the risk of destroying ID threads on the casting.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I recently picked up a Parkinson's Model F Perfect Visewith this type of Jaw Mounts. It looks like the PO was clamping something in just the corners of the vise and broke off the corners of the static jaws, likely at different times. I was wondering if this was a bad design feature after seeing this.

Not at all. His looks near pristine and mine is well used. I got a super deal on mine and would not sell it for anywhere near what I paid for it.

I’ve got one exactly like that one. I love it. I think I gave $500 for it a couple of years ago. It’s in a very similar condition as the one you have pictured. He wouldn’t take a penny less. I think the reverse mounted jaws are a good idea.

Mine has one of the three mounting ears on the base broken off. I was going to replace the base, but so far it hasn’t been a problem. So, I’ve never gotten around to it. Good luck! If you wind up with it, you won’t be sorry.
