That Wilton appears to be in very nice condition. Back then Wilton may have used a 3 digit code on the side under the front or both jaws like 830, 835, 930,935. if its a 3" vise and you want new jaws, replacements don't always align up. Your best bet is
www.wiltonviseparts.net/‎. Kevin make his mounting holes oval to correct any misalignment. That's what I call "The Low Boy". 1st generation Wilton's were stout.

Thinking of making this thing work a bit smoother and maybe make it pretty again. It was attached to a workbench for at least that last 15 years outside at a tree company we recently purchased. My boss told me to toss it (I didn't) and after about 8 minutes of ********* research I discovered it was made in May of 46, beyond that I have no information. Very curious to know what the 830 model means, what this was made for, where it was made, and most importantly if my "Fixing" it is worth the time and effort. Keep in mind I have almost no metallurgy skills whatsoever. Thanks, Bob

very old thread bump, but yes it's worth restoring for sure. fairly simple, read up on electrolysis or evaporust. a little elbow grease, a little paint, and it can look brand new
